What makes Aucnet’s auctions different from other online auctions?

This is one of our most frequently asked questions. The answer is key to understanding Aucnet’s business.

General online auctions are similar to Aucnet’s auctions in that they also do not need people to go to a physical auction site and they can easily consign or bid on products via a web site.  However, online auctions are normally transactions between individuals, while Aucnet’s auctions are for professionals.  In other words, general online auctions are consumer-to-consumer (C2C) but Aucnet’s auctions are businesses-to-business (B2B). However, the biggest difference is that Aucnet has reliable inspection and evaluation systems.

In most online auctions, the only information available is that which consigners choose to provide.  Buyers therefore have to decide whether or not to bid based on this limited and potentially biased information provided by consigners.  This scenario means that for high-value items the risk is also high, and often hidden to the buyer.

On the other hand, Aucnet has prioritised “information reliability” since its establishment and has created used vehicle inspection standards for used vehicles and motorcycles which have become de-facto industry standards. For used digital products, we introduced inspections and grading software with Blancco, the data erasing software provider. For used luxury brand items, our strict authenticity inspections and evaluations provide a market place our customers can use with peace of mind provided.

What is different from other specialist auction companies?

There are specialist auction companies in various business sectors and IT is now widely used. What is the difference between Aucnet and these other companies?

Other specialist auction companies display actual products at a physical auction site. Therefore, their focus is on physical auction site operations and the associated infrastructure.

Aucnet does not have any physical auction site and we do not display actual products in our auctions, so we can focus more on making auction platforms using IT and supporting our customers’ business processes.

Moreover, Aucnet’s platforms can be used for different types of products while other auction companies are specialized in only one business category.
